NFL: Greg Camarillo Agrees to Terms with the New Orleans Saints

Posted on Sunday, August 19th, 2012

Agent JR Rickert is pleased to announce that client Greg Camarillo has agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New Orleans Saints.  The 6’1” 210 lb. receiver was with the Minnesota Vikings for the 2010 and 2011 seasons.

Prior to Minnesota, Camarillo was also with the Miami Dolphins and San Diego Chargers.  The 6 year pro has 142 career catches for 1,686 yards and 5 TD’s.  He trained this off-season with Saints’ QB Drew Brees in anticipation of an offer from a new club.

The native of Redwood, California will now be competing for a spot on the Saints’ roster.

“I have asked my agent to assess situations where I could come in and legitimately compete,” said Camarillo.  When he told me about the situation in New Orleans, it definitely caught my interest because of knowing Drew Brees from San Diego and training with him.”

Camarillo’s agent JR Rickert noted that “Greg has always been a solid player in every situation that he has been in and he brings special teams value to the table.  This can be an asset when you are trying to make a final roster.”

Rickert added, “I have always admired Greg for his professionalism and commitment to his training.  He is a true pro.”

Camarillo has always been a sure handed receiver throughout his career, often drawing comparisons to Wes Welker.  It is conceivable that he would appear in the final 2 games of the pre-season with a decision coming afterwards as to what role he will play for the Saints in the 2012 season.
